Marathon - Sunday 1st November 2009 |

terrible the weather was on the day of the Barns Green

afternoon was a small anti-oasis of hell in an otherwise
lovely spell of great weather…….. Thank you to the
four GRACE runners, Chris Sturdy, Paul Cooper, Jess
Hoggarth, all from Barns Green and to Richard Coles - who
seems to have been sponsored by the entire village of
Forest Green. Between them they have raised over £2,700.
Many thanks to Annie Jennings for choosing GRACE as the

their help on the day and to husband Vernon and the Barns

GRACE CHRISTMAS CONCERT 19 DECEMBER 2007 |
|
|
Venue: Guildford Cathedral
More than 1,000 people joined Anthony
Andrews, Christopher Biggins, Amanda Burton and Alan Titchmarsh
at the sell-out GRACE Charity Gala Concert at Guildford
Cathedral on Wednesday, 19th December, raising £28,000
to improve women’s chances of surviving gynaecological cancer.
Guests enjoyed a selection of choral
classics, West End Hits, a Night at the Opera and a private
Cirque performance all in one amazing evening.
The evening was the brainchild of Lynda
Moorby, personal assistant to Simon Butler-Manuel, a leading
consultant gynaecologist and founder of GRACE based at the St
Luke’s Cancer Centre. The funds raised will go towards the £1.25
million cost of buying the da Vinci Robotic System®
which will revolutionise cancer care.
Every year, more than 1,000 women die from cervical
cancer, the same number of people who filled the Cathedral for
the concert. All in
all, the gynaecological cancers will reap the lives of 10,000
women, the equivalent of ten full Cathedrals.
Simon Butler-Manuel said, “I feel as
though GRACE gained 1,000 new friends at the concert.”
